I fell in love with Holden York when I was six years old.
Most of my youth came with spiral notebooks filled with doodles, wedding plans, and “Janelle York” looped in bubbly handwriting.
However, one night in Vegas changed everything.
I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother’s best friend.
Five years later, I'm standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me.
If you think this is the story of how we rode off into the sunset together…You’re so wrong.
But if you think this is the story of how Holden blackmailed me into living with him...You couldn't be more right.

Janelle finishes with college and wants to start a new business back in her hometown and what better way to get the money but to join a reality dating show! Errr….. wait.  I turns out that the $10,000 Janelle was expecting has a catch and an upgrade.  Getting married to her “soul mate”  will bring them $50,000 each instead.  Only problem?  She has to get a divorce. Errr….wait.  Janelle doesn’t remember getting married.

The story picks up from there as Janelle goes home and confronts Holden, her brother’s best friend, who apparently took her to the Little White Chapel in Vegas before he took her virginity 5 years ago.   Janelle is a character that you wonder what she is thinking with the things she does.  She had been in college, separated herself from her family, and while she had dreams she doesn’t exactly seem to have a plan.  She is young and inexperienced with the world and it shows.  Holden is also a bit of a mess.  He won’t sign the divorce papers until he gets Janelle to reconnect with her family.  Holden is very close to her family and while I understood his need to make things right for all of them, he knew that the split wasn’t all Janelle’s fault.  His motivation for keeping Janelle goes back and forth between altruistic and wanting to remain married to her for her.

The story itself is unique with dating show angle and the touching scenes as Janelle reunites with  the various members of her family but I just didn’t get  the chemistry between Holden and Janelle.  They were so busy with their outside issues that they never really connected.  Overall, this is a decent read but it didn’t wow me.
